Making the Bed

I just finished the weekly cleaning of our little condo. Maybe cleaning is not quite accurate. A “lick and a promise,” an old country saying that means good enough, is closer to the truth. Straightened things a bit, dusted, vacuumed, quick cleaned the bathrooms and made the bed. It seemed good enough for today.

Cleaning has always been something I’ve enjoyed, but bed-making has never ranked very high on my household chore list. It was just something I thought needed to be done. But today as I opened the blinds to allow the beautiful sunshine in, it hit me just how lucky I am to be able to make my bed every day.

Life is ever-changing and I’m finding getting older has some hidden advantages. Along with the aches and pains, the process also brings new-found wisdom of learning to let go of unimportant things. I learned today that Clean doesn’t have to equal spotless. Clean is good enough!

Ending on a Positive Note: Father God, thank you for blessing me with the strength and energy to be able to make my bed every day. Thank you for the reminder that we must never take anything for granted and always be grateful to learn small lessons every day.
