Today would have been my Daddy’s 96th birthday. He passed away in 2004 and I still miss him terribly, but memories bring great comfort. He was a quiet, hardworking man who loved his God, his family and lived a simple life of humility.
Ralph Waldo Emerson must have had my Daddy in mind when he said, “Who you are speaks so loudly I can’t hear what you’re saying.” Never complaining, he made the most out of the situations in his life and just did what needed to be done.
I learned many lessons from Daddy, but one of the most important was that he literally took each person he met as they were, each situation as it came without trying to judge. He was always ready to lend a hand when needed, and always without regard for what was in it for him, treated others fairly and with great respect.
He lived a simple life with great abundance.
Ending on a Positive Note: I am so grateful for my father and the way he inspired my brothers and me to live our best life everyday.
